Weather analysis and forecasting is fundamental science and technology in meteorology. In this course, students will learn the followings: interpreting and utilizing weather codes; analyzing observational meteorological data; drawing basic weather chart; understanding, drawing and using thermodynamic diagram (skew T-log p diagram); interpreting auxiliary weather charts; and principles of weather forecasting. Students will have practical experiences of weather analysis and forecasting through team projects. The lab hours include traditional hand-drawing of weather maps and computer-based map analysis.
